Life... you'd think there'd be something good in the end.

Jarrod is a belligerent alcoholic whose's severe diabetes cost him his sight. While spending his days in a hospital ward, Jarrod discovers his younger brother, who he doesn't much care for, has turned over his dog to the pound where it'll be euthanized in a few days. Jarrod's escapes from the hospital in a last ditch effort to save his dog but hot on his trail is Thomas, a  medical attendant, sent after him to bring him back. What ensues is a game of cat and mouse and an unlikely bond that as both men confronting their demons.

Director's Note:

"In 2005 I headed back to my hometown of Kitchener-Waterloo and pulled together an amazing group of people to make my third feature film. With a grant, courtesy of Canada Council of The Arts, we shot the feature in the brand-new home-movie digital format, HDV. This was 7 years before digital prints would become the norm. At the time, cinemas, film festivals and distributors around the world insisted on 35mm film prints. So, when our scrappy little $60,000 film was to premier at TIFF 2006, we had no choice. Luckily, weeks before opening night, Telefilm Canada invested in the film. Believe it or not, that one 35mm negative and release print cost almost as much as the whole production budget of the film. So, we're having a party to say goodbye to the original HDV tapes, and the $50,000.00 35mm negative and print of SLEEPING DOGS (2006) before it heads off to its new home at the library of Archives Canada to be with its older sibling, HEATER.
We'll have soundtracks and DVDs, along with some other little gems to sell and Playhouse Cinema will graciously be donating all receipts from ticket sales to help fund a new film project of mine.

Come celebrate with us. Vive Le Indie Cinema!"
