Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie

"No other summer release is going to give us a drag-revue singalong to 'At Seventeen,' indelibly describe a jacuzzi as 'a smoothie of old sperm,' or divulge the secret of Jon Hamm’s deflowering. This short, bright, lovably shambolic outing does all that with Bollinger-soaked one-liners to spare." - Variety

Edina (Jennifer Saunders) and Patsy (Joanna Lumley) make the transition to the big screen. After six successful seasons on television on the British series Absolutely Fabulous, they're still living the high life with shopping sprees, drinking and of course, clubbing.

That changes when they become the focus of a media frenzy when they're blamed for an terrible faux pas at a fashionable launch party. Relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi, they flee to the French Riviera, where they come up with a plan to make the most of their escape.

"Most of the humor continues to be relatively standalone sendups of the emptiness of one-upwomanship, egotistical self-help — 'I’m trying to do my mindlessness' — and reflexive hedonism. The zings are zingy, and the numerous celebrity cameos hit just-right notes of clued-in ridiculousness. Best of all, it is a sheer triumph to see two older women — Saunders is 58, Lumley 70 — being really, really funny onscreen, in all sorts of ways, from sly, often underplayed character satire to to literal falling-down slapstick. Fabulous." - Maryann Johanson, Flick Filosopher
