The feature debut of Charlotte Wells received its world premiere at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the French Touch Jury Prize. The film, which stars BAFTA Award-winning actor Paul Mescal ('Normal People') and acting debutant Frankie Corio, tells a story of reconciliation between a once loving and idealistic father and his daughter. Meet Gail Maurice, the director of ROSIE, on Saturday Nov 12th!
We're ready for our close up! Filmed on location in Hamilton and near the Playhouse! Get tickets now! [2]
The feature-film debut of Métis writer-director-actor Gail Maurice brings us to the fringes of 1980s Montreal as seen through the eyes of a sweet and suddenly orphaned Indigenous girl. ROSIE features one of the most natural and endearing performances we have seen from a child actor. It's a film definitely worth seeking out (and we're not just saying that because the Playhouse has a cameo in it!)
"ROSIE has a big heart and is a delight to watch." - Next Big Picture
"An uplifting story of acceptance, self worth, and the art of embracing exactly who you were born to be." - Screen Zealots
