August 19-25: So jam packed with special openings and one night events it needed an extra newsletter!

9 to 5 is on the big screen for one night only! Presented in partnership with the Eva Rothwell Centre and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

The Eva Rothwell Centre is a non-profit community organization located in Hamilton's North End. They are proud to host Dolly Parton's Imagination Library as one of their initiatives to help raise early literacy rates, prepare children for Kindergarten, and instill a love of reading at a young age. They are currently focused on enrolling children who live within the L8L postal code, with a goal of expanding the program throughout Hamilton, through help from community donations and generous partners.

9 to 5 is an office satire about three female secretaries who decide to get revenge on their tyrannical, sexist boss by abducting him and running the business themselves. The trio, one of whom has been passed over for promotion because she is a woman, spend a night together having drug-induced fantasies of killing the slave-driving chauvinist. One of them panics the following day when she suspects she really has poisoned the tyrant.

Critically acclaimed film, Bicycle Thieves, plays Aug 25 only!

Hailed around the world as one of the greatest movies ever made, the Academy Award–winning Bicycle Thieves, directed by Vittorio De Sica, defined an era in cinema. In poverty-stricken postwar Rome, a man is on his first day of a new job that offers hope of salvation for his desperate family when his bicycle, which he needs for his work, is stolen. With his young son in tow, he sets off to track down the thief. Simple in construction and profoundly rich in human insight, Bicycle Thieves embodies the greatest strengths of the Italian neorealist movement: emotional clarity, social rectitude, and brutal honesty.

On the big screen one night only!

Sally, Franklin and their three friends run out of gas while driving to their grandfather's house. One by one they are tormented and killed by a chainsaw-wielding killer and his psychopathic family.

"Along with Night of the Living Dead and The Last House on the Left, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE ushered in the modern age of horror in the 1970s. It is one of the great transgressive American horrors and is still the film upon which Hooper's reputation is built." - Sean Axmaker

"Morally retrograde it may be, but then so are nightmares. The point is that this one, though often crude and raw, really leads the imagination. What also works in its favour is that it doesn't pretend to do anything more than scare the pants off you." - Guardian
