PG

"It is a work entirely worthy of any prize anyone chooses to bestow on it, compassionate and intelligent... should linger long after the 24-hour news cycle is over or the political flavour of the month goes stale. 4/4 stars" - Kate Taylor, Globe & Mail

OSCAR WINNER! Best Foreign Language Film. “Human nature has always been the focus of writer/director Asghar Farhadi. Farhadi is a man more interested in impact than event. It’s not the disappearance in his 2009 film About Elly that matters as much as the ripple effect caused by it.

"Lion celebrates the human will and the human need to find meaning and connection in life." - Philadelphia Inquirer

A five-year-old Indian boy, Saroo, goes with his older brother, Guddu, to beg for money at a train station. When Saroo gets separated from his brother, he climbs on a train to search for him and winds up many miles away from his home.

"An extraordinary swirl of love, anger, tenderness and brittle humour." - Variety

“Like a carefully wrought piece of origami, Manchester by the Sea unfolds slowly and delicately to reveal its inner workings, building over time into one of the most powerful emotional experiences filmgoers will have this year.

PG

"'It's a Wonderful Life' to the tenth power." - Boston Herald

Stepping from the pages of Fredrik Backman’s international best selling novel, Ove is the quintessential angry old man next door. An isolated retiree with strict principles and a short fuse --who spends his days enforcing block association rules that only he cares about, and visiting his wife’s grave-- Ove has given up on life.

NR

"A compelling document that works as a mini-history of black racial identity in America from the mid- to late-20th century and beyond." - TIME

Based on an unfinished book by memoirist James Baldwin, this superb documentary charts the history of black activism during the civil rights movement. Nominated for Best Documentary (Feature) Oscar.

STC

"Kids and families are all but guaranteed to return home from the theater profoundly touched." - Minneapolis Star Tribune

Oscar-Nominated! Best Animated Film. “Not a single word of dialogue is spoken throughout Michael Dudok de Wit’s debut feature THE RED TURTLE, but its sights and sounds communicate a literal lifetime of emotional peaks and valleys.

No screenings currently scheduled.

PG

"To watch Portman's every move is to not only watch history being recreated, but to also witness history being made." 4/4 stars - Globe & Mail

NOMINATED FOR 3 OSCARS, INCL. BEST ACTRESS. "She stares into the tiny mirror of the Air Force One bathroom, adjusting her pink pillbox hat and equally pink, double-breasted knockoff Chanel suit – a vision of carefully calculated grace, and a template for all First Ladies to follow. It is Nov.

PG

"How is Michael Keaton's performance as McDonald's self-proclaimed founder Ray Kroc? I gotta say, I'm lovin' it. Keaton makes this electrifying take on the godfather of fast-food resonate for the scary here and now." - Rolling Stone

The true story of how small-time salesman Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton) met brothers Dick McDonald (Nick Offerman) and Mac McDonald (John Carroll Lynch) when he was selling them a large order of mixers for the small restaurant chain that they'd started on their own.
