Thank you for making us Spectator Readers' Choice Diamond Winner (Top Prize) for Best Movie Theatre in Hamilton!

Opening this Friday, we're proud to bring you Michael Apted's 63 Up. Considered one of the most ambitious film projects ever, the Up series began in 1964 with a group of 7 year-olds from different British class backgrounds. Every 7 years, the filmmakers have checked in with the participants, and the insights have been remarkable. This year's edition is no different. Even if one is new to the series, it's a truly special movie-going experience, which we highly recommend.

We've been waiting for this film... (and so have you!) Greta Gerwig's Oscar Nominated film, Little Women opens next week (as a replacement for Midnight Family, which we unfortunately had to cancel). Oscar favourites Parasite & Jojo Rabbit continue this week and, if you've been meaning to see Knives Out with us, it returns this week as well!

New at the cinema is The Song of Names, starring Tim Roth & Clive Owen, who both turn in fantastic performances. A film that critics are calling "A moving meditation on the purpose and privilege of artistic expression," the film comes from the director of the highly acclaimed 1998 feature, The Red Violin, François Girard. Get tickets!

It's a strange world, isn't it? David Lynch's Blue Velvet has two limited screenings on  Feb 11 & 12. It's a rare opportunity to catch this film on the big screen, so grab your friends and catch a mindbending cinema masterpiece with us the way Lynch intended you to see it!

Special Events this week at the Playhouse include our FREE live broadcast of the 92nd Oscars! Come enjoy an evening on us with a donation towards 541 Eatery & Exchange or the Hamilton Food Share. Register your seat here.

Also this week, we've teamed up with Collective Arts Brewing to bring you another one of our epic Silent Film, Live Music nights with Dragnet Girl: Accompanied by the VOC Silent Film Harmonic! Feb. 13, 7:00pm. Co-presented by Collective Arts (with a *special complimentary beer* for legal age attendees!) "This silent gangster film, from 1933, directed by Yasujiro Ozu, seethes with sardonic comedy. It opens like a classic office melodrama, as Tokiko (Kinuyo Tanaka), a demure young secretary, is pursued by her wily boss. Then, after work, she heads to a boxing gym where her criminal boyfriend, Joji (Joji Oka), holds court. Ozu treats underworld swagger with brazen contempt yet adorns it with images of an uproarious visual ecstasy.
