Music is a theme this week at the Playhouse with the opening of the legendary 1950s concert film, Jazz on a Summer's Day. Shot in colour at the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival, this film celebrates all things music through wonderful performances from Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, Gerry Mulligan, Anita O'Day, Chuck Berry and Dinah Washington. Keeping up with the musical trend this week, we have two screenings of Prince's iconic 1980s concept film, Purple Rain. Experience Prince's purple majesty on our big screen with the biggest sound. "Are we gonna let the elevator bring us down? Oh, no let's go!"

John Carpenter fans are going to LOVE what we have on tap this week with screenings of both Escape From New York & Escape From L.A! Two action classics that have a lot to say about the world we live in, in 2020. Good thing 2020 isn't as bad as the 1981 version of 1997's New York... right? Get tickets and don't miss these cult-classics! 

There's a huge need for feel-good films right now, that's why this week we're bringing two excellent films that will warm up your heart... Military Wives is based on a true story about a group of women who form a choir to cope with their partners away serving in war... from the director of The Full Monty! Also this week, The Trip to Greece makes its way to the Playhouse, serving up a dose of thoughtful comedy for those who need a laugh and the vicarious enjoyment of international travel and fine dining!

Phil Demers lives in a bungalow across the creek from MarineLand, the iconic amusement park in Niagara Falls, where he had his dream job as an animal trainer for over a decade. He swam with killer whales and ran the show, until he quit and blew the whistle, making claims of animal abuse and calling for an end to the near 60-year-old practice of keeping marine mammals in pools.

A new 4K restoration of The Talking Heads’ classic concert movie directed by Jonathan Demme and filmed over three nights at Hollywood’s Pantages Theater in December 1983.

A24 presents the rerelease of Talking Heads' classic concert film Stop Making Sense!
