ICE-BREAKER: The '72 Summit Series
ONE NIGHT ONLY! Wed. Oct 5th!
“The ’72 Summit was an ice-breaker for a lot of reasons. It was the greatest hockey ever played” – Wayne Gretzky
ICE-BREAKER follows the extraordinary story of former diplomat Gary Smith and the role he played during the Cold War hockey series between Canada and the Soviet Union in 1972. The documentary explores the fascinating events that surrounded the series both in Canada and in the Soviet Union. Canadians came together as never before by the unique series of intense hockey games, and ICE-BREAKER, with incredible footage and interviews, brings it all back to life.
Director Robbie Hart, producer Stephen Paniccia, and author Gary J. Smith will be in attendance for a Q&A! More special guests TBA.
"ICE-BREAKER is like seeing a place you thought you knew perfectly through a lens you never knew existed. It’s 1972.2 — just as compelling, fascinating and, for Canadians, satisfying as the original.” – Roy MacGregor
