With the input, assistance and enthusiasm of several original BlackBerry/RIM employees, we are hosting a one-time evening SPECIAL SCREENING of the new BLACKBERRY film on Thursday May 25th, 7:30pm at Princess Cinemas.
Directed by Matt Johnson, BlackBerry is "the story of the meteoric rise and catastrophic demise of the world's first smartphone." If ever there was a homegrown story, this is it.
At posting time, we are securing and planning to have special guests introduce each screening. The film's director, Matt Johnson, will be in attendance. Also confirmed: former Record reporter Chuck Howitt, author of 'BlackBerry Town: How high tech success has played out for Canada's Kitchener-Waterloo.' Pre-recorded Zoom intro by Sean Silcoff, author of 'Losing the Signal,' the book upon which the film is based.
We will be offering a one-time specially brewed beer called BLACKBERRY in honour of the release of the film, brewed by the folks at Stockyards Brewing.
After the screenings, there will be a post-film reception at the Princess Twin and a display of early Reseach In Motion / Blackberry devices!
