Winner of the Documentary Directing award at Sundance, Cold Case Hammarskjöld is a shocking, revelatory murder mystery about the 1961 plane crash that killed United Nations secretary-general Dag Hammarskjöld.

"The titular protagonist of Cold Case Hammarskjöld is Dag Hammarskjöld, the secretary general of the United Nations who died in a plane crash in 1961, in what was then northern Rhodesia.

“Becoming Nobody truly represents the core arc of Ram Dass’ teachings and life. His ability to entertain and his sense of humor are abundantly evident in a conversation that brings us around to address the vast question of ultimate freedom.

"Sergio Leone's grandiose 1966 western epic is nothing less than a masterclass in movie storytelling, a dynamic testament to the sheer, invigorating uniqueness of cinema." - Time Out

“Italian director Sergio Leone tells the story of The Good the Bad and the Ugly more with pictures than words. Examine the masterful scene in the cemetery. A fortune in gold is said to be buried in one of the graves, and three men have assembled, all hoping to get it. The actors are Clint Eastwood (the Good), Lee Van Cleef (the Bad), and Eli Wallach (the Ugly).

"With a softened lens, British documentarian Nick Broomfield adoringly examines a fascinating relationship in a fascinating time that saw Cohen transition from a poet to a world-class songwriter." - Globe & Mail

Return engagement! “The Greek island of Hydra was Eden for a group of 1960s free-love artists and intellectuals who flocked to an idyllic paradise with sun-dappled beaches, cheap living and plentiful mind-expanding drugs to turn on, tune in, drop out.

“Travis Bickle drives cabs all night. He can't sleep. But what he sees whilst cruising the NY city streets he finds so disgusting that it drives him to a climactic moment of violence, which some may deem equally disgusting.

“Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) are cool dudes, but to their teacher, they're high school no-hopers. They fantasise about forming a rock band called 'Wyld Stallyns'; one day they'll pull themselves together and learn how to play guitar.

"Reiner's brilliantly inventive script and smart visuals avoid all the obvious pitfalls, making this one of the funniest ever films about the music business." - Time Out

"This Is Spinal Tap, one of the funniest movies ever made, is about a lot of things, but one of them is the way the real story is not in the questions or in the answers, but at the edge of the frame. There are two stories told in the film: the story of what the rock band Spinal Tap thinks, hopes, believes or fears is happening, and the story of what is actually happening.

Art, Design & Architecture

“Integral House is an architectural marvel in Toronto built by Jim Stewart, a music lover who made a fortune writing calculus textbooks. Director Joseph Clement's debut film functions as both an inspiring tour of the home and a moving profile of Stewart, who gave architects Brigitte Shim and Howard Sutcliffe only two conditions: that the house have curves and a performance space.

"Bell draws laughter and tears out of her character's indignities but also invests us greatly in her desire to change her own life." - Globe & Mail

"Written and directed by first-timer Paul Downs Colaizzo and starring Jillian Bell in a performance that defines breakout, 'Brittany' not only goes places you won’t be expecting but it also manages to be simultaneously sympathetic and unsentimental, a picture with a laugh-out-loud sense of humor that can be as real as hell when it needs to be.

No screenings currently scheduled.

R

"Funny, scary and brilliantly cinematic." - Time Out

The story, which begins in North Carolina, revolves around the love of Sailor Ripley (Nicolas Cage) and Lula Pace Fortune (Laura Dern). Between the sex and the chain-smoking, these two seem in danger of burning themselves down. They’re just two sweet, horny kids, except for their Lynch-load of psychological baggage.

No screenings currently scheduled.

PG

"Extraordinary on every level, Lulu Wang's The Farewell starring an award-caliber Awkwafina builds a funny, touching and vital film about what makes a family in any culture, leaving you with cathartic tears." - Rolling Stone

“‘Based on an actual lie’ is writer-director Lulu Wang’s way of introducing her (actually true) story; a sly title card to qualify the bittersweet dramedy of deception that follows.

No screenings currently scheduled.

“Apocalypse Now is a movie that drove Coppola to the brink of both financial ruin and actual madness. Its first release was two-and-a-half hours, an overwhelming psychedelic horror vision of will and inhumanity.
