Help us celebrate the Princess's 36th birthday, cinema itself and the beautiful film music of Ennio Morricone. 1989 admission prices. Bring your friends and family! We will be accepting donations to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region.
In May 1989, the Princess was in its 4th year as KW's independent arthouse cinema. In the spring of that year, we were thrilled to premiere the winner of the 1989 Oscar for Best Foreign Film, Cinema Paradiso. All these decades later, we are thrilled to present it once again, not only as a celebration of our 36th birthday, but also as a celebration of cinema itself. There perhaps is no other film that encapsulates the love, community and heart created around a movie theatre, and of course, Ennio Morricone's beautiful score brings the sentiment poignantly alive. Join us! Welcoming remarks from John Tutt.
Brand new this week is Best Sellers, with Michael Caine & Aubrey Plaza in this comedy/drama about a reclusive, cantankerous novelist who embarks on a publicity tour with his desperate publisher. Perfect for a weekend watch!
"Splendid vehicles for the enormous talent of Sir Michael Caine, now in his 89th year."
Miss live theatre? The brand new documentary On Broadway should help you get your fix and it opens this weekend at the Twin! With Helen Mirren, Sir Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Alec Baldwin and more.
"This smart and spirited film reminds us that there's still nothing in American entertainment like the Broadway ritual of hundreds of live, superbly talented performers playing to thousands of live, rapt theatergoers six nights a week." - WSJ
Halloween is closer than you think, so we're getting into the spirit of the season a little early with The Night House, starting at the Twin this Friday!
"Intelligent, emotionally compelling and visually sophisticated, for fans of darker fare and old-fashioned spooky stories, The Night House is unmissable." - ABC

Starting this weekend, we begin our celebration of the marvelous work of Italian composer, Ennio Morricone, who died in 2020. Morricone brought to cinema some of the most beautiful compositions ever made for film. His music brought an extra depth and dimension to the films for which he composed; he truly was (arguably?) the best. We invite you to be transported watching these films the way they were intended: on the biggest screen with the biggest sound. Tickets are on sale now for Cinema Paradiso (Sept 18), Once Upon a Time in the West (Sept 19 & 24), followed by The Mission (Oct 1 & 3) and The Thing (Oct 9 & 10). Even more screenings to come.
Last month we had "Oscar-winner Nic Cage" show his skills of in Pig. This month? We have wild & crazy Nic Cage in the brand new thriller, Prisoners of the Ghostland.
"Is 'Prisoners of the Ghostland.' as he claimed, truly the wildest movie Nicolas Cage has ever made? If not, it's certainly in the running." - The Thrillist

If you didn't get a chance last week to see The Hidden Life of Trees and The Card Counter, both continue at the Twin with tickets on-sale now.
